A man named Tony is captured riding the horse of Lee Corey, a missing delivery man for a local mining company. Tony claims to have bought the horse from two men, but the sheriff believes he has murdered Corey and stolen the horse. Tony is sent to the gallows, but escapes hanging with the help of Corey's mistress and sets out to find the real killer.

Esmeralda (Marcela Mar), a woman determined to uncover the truth behind the tragedy that destroyed her family, embarks on a desperate quest that leads her to unearth the darkest secrets of La Alameda, a small mining community in Colombia. With the help of Joaquín (Juan Pablo Urrego), a farmer who knows the land and its dangers well, she follows the last traces of her late husband, a high executive at a multinational mining company. Together, they slowly peel back the layers of something much more sinister and discover an ambitious society fighting for gold and territory. Esmeralda becomes trapped in a dangerous game of betrayal and power, where every step she takes brings her closer to the truth... but also to death.

Sebastián, an architect in crisis with his wife, occasionally passes through a small town. Mariela, an orphan girl, believes him to be the one sent by God for whom she has been praying and lies in town saying that he is her uncle and that he has come to take care of her. Sebastián begins to relate to Mariela and her past. The lie grows, Sebastián begins to doubt his true identity and Mariela, and the whole town, will try to prevent him from leaving.

In 1971, the graphic and advertising artist Juan Fresán set out to film the story of Orélie Antoine de Tounens, the delirious Frenchman who 100 years earlier had proclaimed himself ‘King of Patagonia and Araucanía’, with his own constitution, currency and ministers. The film, titled "New France," was left unfinished, first due to lack of funds and then because its author had to go into exile. If the story is familiar to many today, this is because in the '80s Carlos Sorín made' The King's movie ', inspired by that frustrated shoot, in which he had worked as a cinematographer. In 2004, Fresán contacted Turturro to help him rescue the preserved film. Fresán died in that same year, but Turturro decided to retake the trace of that truncated film, exhuming unpublished materials, returning to their original settings and gathering testimonies, to illuminate the two stories - one within the other - that make up this true story, more strange and fascinating than any fiction.
